BSA Finalizes Largest-Ever Enforcement Action in Thailand

BSA’s Compliance Solutions team in Thailand has finalized the largest enforcement action in the program’s history. Beginning with a whistleblower report submitted to BSA’s portal back in 2015, BSA pursued the case through multiple phases, including an initial investigation of the report, filing a complaint with Thailand’s Economic Crimes Division, inspection of the company’s premises which revealed significant infringement of multiple members’ products, and civil litigation following the company’s refusal to negotiate with BSA. Following years of litigation, all funded by BSA, including a successful appeal to the Supreme Court, the judgment was finalized in the closing weeks of 2020. BSA and its members will be able to leverage this important precedent to drive significant value in future compliance efforts.
